In the Hawaiian language, Mauna Lani describes a place where the "mountains meet the heavens". On the leeward edge of the Mauna Lani Kaniku lava flow, bordered by the beach and fishponds of Kalahuipua'a, the Hawaiians settled in a special haven which we now call Palm Villas.

King Kamehameha I vacationed here. The king and his court feasted from these royal ponds which were protected for his use. And now, this last remaining parcel of land has become home o 44 of the fortunate few.
